Embedded Firmware Engineer/Software Developer

Alencon is looking for a talented embedded firmware developer to kick start development on our next generation of SPOT DC to DC power optimizers. Each SPOT sports 4 high performance M4 MCUs for real-time control, and an embedded linux PC for telemetry and remote control. This a great opportunity to hone your embedded skills, and gain full stack IOT experience in a fast paced startup environment.

- Embedded development on innovative, IOT enabled, alternative energy power conversion equipment

- New board bring up, debug, and BSP updates

- Continuous code curation and refactoring to maximise reuse across multiple products and MCUs

- Creation and execution of test plans for hardware and software validation

- Development and support of factory test environments for board and system level testing

- 2-3 years of experience developing real-time bare metal and RTOS based microcontroller systems in C or C++

- Very comfortable reading and interpreting electronic schematics

- Experience with new board bring up 

- Experience with lab tools such as logic analyzer, protocol analyzer, multimeter, and oscilloscope

- Very familiar with SPI, I2C, RS-232, RS-485, and USB

- Experience with GIT or other version control software


- MCU Experience: ARM Cortex M3/4 and PIC32

- RF Protocols: MiWi / Zigbee / IEEE 802.15.4 / WiFi / BT 

- FreeRTOS

- Higher level language and tools: Python, Javascript, Make, GCC 

- Scrum, unit testing, and TDD

- Schematic capture and PCB layout tools

- Embedded WiFi and Bluetooth development

- Embedded Linux

- Mobile App development

- Embedded TCP/IP - IOT 

- Wired and RF communications principles

- Power electronics and power supply design

- SMT Solder
