BLOC: Flexible,
Bi-Directional
DC-DC Converter for
Storage Systems

The BLOC is a bidirectional, non-isolated DC:DC converter designed to manage power flow between a variety of high-voltage DC sources and loads such as PV arrays, batteries, fuel cells, and EV charging systems. Each BLOC unit contains four independently controlled converters that can be deployed in flexible topologies, supporting both parallel and modular configurations to meet system-specific current and voltage requirements.

Ideal for applications like DC-coupled solar and storage, DC microgrids, and second-life battery integration, the BLOC enables high-efficiency energy management with peak efficiency up to 99.5%. It is offered in two models: 1000V (180 kW) and 1500V (162 kW), each capable of managing high power throughput. Integrated with Alencon’s communications platform, the BLOC supports Modbus for seamless SCADA integration via the PODD device.

The BLOC’s advantages include granular rack-level battery control, support for mixed battery chemistries and states of health, and a robust NEMA 3R-rated design for indoor or outdoor deployment. Its flexible mounting, advanced firmware protections, and field-configurable operation make it a versatile, high-performance alternative to traditional inverter-coupled or AC-tied solutions.
