Materials Manager/Buyer-Planner

Alencon is looking for buyer and material manager/planner to help accelerate our manufacturing scale up. The ideal candidate should have atleast 1 - 3 years of purchasing and material planning experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment. POSITION TITLE: Materials Manager/Buyer-Planner

POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Manufacturing



This individual is responsible for:

- Planning and purchasing of all production materials over an 18-month forecast

- Managing suppliers to ensure on time delivery

- Assuring Competitive Pricing

- Managing inventory levels to prevent line down situations due to material shortages

- Optimizing inventory levels to maximize turns

The Buyer Planner will report directly to the Director of Manufacturing.


- Bachelors degree and/or equivalent work experience

- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience purchasing and/or planning in a manufacturing environment

- Experience buying machined parts and/or electronic components preferable

- Working knowledge of MRP systems

- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

- Required to have an extensive working knowledge of PC functions and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Power BI is a plus.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, works independently, displays initiative and solves problems with proficiency.


1. Forecast and plan direct and indirect materials at the SKU level.

2. Manage suppliers to:

           a. reduce costs

           b. improve quality

           c. ensure material availability

3. Monitor and report key performance metrics including:

          a. Purchase Price Variances

          b. Inventory Shortages, real or projected[if !supportLists]

          c. Supplier quality performance

          d. Supplier on-time delivery

4. Manage internal inventory to ensure continuous production while maximizing turns

5. Develop a thorough working knowledge of Fishbowl Inventory Management.

6. Bring ideas to management and implement necessary process improvements.

7. Develop mutually beneficial professional relationships with peers to ensure seamless coordination between departments, maximize synergy, and maintain a shared vision, strategy, and focus.
